 | | McDonald Springs of Rochester, Inc is a privately held large vehicle service company with a proud history dating back four generations, to James McDonald's blacksmith shop in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The shop provided iron tires and springs for horse-drawn wagons. Later, as the automobile became popular, James and his son Angus supplied springs for the undercarriages of trucks and automobiles. |
After World War II, Angus and his son Thomas opened a custom spring shop in midtown Manhattan. They eventually relocated the business to the city of Newburgh in the Hudson Valley, where Thomas and Jane McDonald prospered and raised two sons, Jim and Tom , who continued to expand the family business, serving trucking companies in seven surrounding counties. | Jim McDonald left Newburgh in 1983 to establish his own business in Rochester, NY providing suspension repair and replacement services to long haul trucking companies, local construction firms, school districts, local governments and fuel transport companies. Today, MSR shop technicians provide a full range of services to its customers, from suspension and chassis repair and custom work to diesel engine service. | In 1995, Tom Collier joined McDonald Springs as Operations Manager and helped develop a new service to MSR customers: repair of truck mounted hydraulic equipment. MSR currently employs factory certified technicians for Cleasby, Palfinger, IMT, Hiab and Fassi equipment and is authorized to perform warranty work for these manufacturers. MSR continues to expand its truck mounted equipment business, selling new units as well as parts to customers anywhere in the United States. |
